Old Dominion University Licensing was awarded the 2023-24 Campus Integration Award from the Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) for the rollout and success of ODU Golden Ale.

During CLC's annual Collegiate Licensing IMPACT awards held earlier this month, ODU Golden Ale was honored for ranking number two in sales among all CLC institutions with licensed beers from July 1, 2023-March 31, 2024.

The awards honor partner institutions that execute programs to connect and engage with consumers through collegiate licensing. The Campus Integration Award highlights successful efforts by licensing departments to promote the university’s brand through licensing programs.

“This is ODU’s very first licensing award and I couldn’t be prouder that it’s for the success of a true fan-favorite,” said Brian Eubank, ODU’s executive director of licensing. “ODU Golden Ale not only elevates our brand, but also underscores the value of connections between academic institutions and local business communities.”

In Aug. 2023, ODU Golden Ale was launched as a multiyear partnership with New Realm Brewing Co., making the brewing company the official craft beer partner of ODU. The launch of the beer was also supported by ODU Sports Properties managed by PlayFly Sports.

The beer’s theme, “Raised with Pride,” celebrates the pride and passion of the ODU community and the New Realm family. The ale is a specially crafted brew that pours a golden yellow, features a light, citrusy and piney hop aroma and incorporates Cascade and Idaho 7 hops.

ODU Golden Ale is available at nearly 100 locations throughout Virginia.
